Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower has released the list of Singapore’s public holidays for 2018! Only four out of the 11 public holidays will fall on a Friday or Monday, which would give a three-day long weekend.

Here’s the list of the (miserably) short list of long weekends in Singapore in 2018:

  1. New Year
    30 December 2016 to 1 January 2017
    (Saturday to Monday)
  2. Chinese New Year
    16 February to 18 February
    (Friday to Sunday)
  3. Good Friday
    30 March to 1 April
    (Friday to Sunday)
  4. Hari Raya Puasa
    15 June to 17 June
    (Friday to Sunday)

And that’s all for the official long weekends in 2018. Take a deep breath and get back to work… Well, here we have some tips for you to beat the system. With some mastery planning of leave, the number of long weekends could have doubled to nine next year! Here’s how you can do it.

There’s another four public holidays in 2018 fall on a Tuesday: Labour Day (1 May), Vesak Day (29 May), Deepavali (6 November), Christmas Day (25 December). So, simply take a day’s leave on the corresponding Monday and it would give not only three-day, but four-day long weekends! Similarly, take another one day leave on 10 August, the Friday after National Day (9 August) would give another four-day weekend!
